Konsep Karya

Shared Residence interrogates the underlying processes, frameworks and practices in exhibition making, specifically focused on the terms to share and to reside. In this space, Poklong Anading displays a number of library cabinets that contain artworks contributed by some local artists. Viewers who are interested have the opportunity to borrow their chosen artwork and install it in their home with some conditions. As artworks leave a space and enter a new one, there are always social and cultural connections that are created and removed simultaneously. Meanings that surround objects, whether a book or an artwork, underdo transitions as it is shared from a public space (such as a gallery, library or museum) to the private space of the borrower. This project also sheds light to the kind of viewership and exchanges created, as well as the delineation between what is public and what is personal in today s world.
