Konsep Karya
389-696-104-554 as a continuous work from Syagini's last solo show, Spectral Fiction, still elaborates her deep interest in the issues of perception and consciousness—a common thread that connect her whole body of works. This project also responds to a predisposition to chromopobia—an excessive fear of the use of color—that may have emerged due to artists’ reluctance to return to formal/modernist abstraction. Syagini believes that color remains a fascinating mystery, yet it should not be likened to a ghost that may possess the art and transform it into artificial practice. Although it is oftentimes demoted as part and parcel to cosmetics, decorations, and mere ornamentation, color remains a color, which truly has no name.
