Crazy Era Series

2017

Konsep Karya
This series of works tries to talk about where democracy is in the globally contemporary era and the values within it. Presented illustration, a figure of Javanese woman, of the subject of these works, convey the shifting values that create friction and negation.
The subject of Javanese woman is picked to depict the metaphor of her life journey, in which she must get married, start a new life and serve the humanity. In the marital procession, there's a make-up ritual for the bride, in which many prayers were being symbolized as garnish and accessories, on her face or her whole body. They are meaningful and filled with philosophy.
These symbols are the source of culture to learn and discuss, and for the next generation to upgrade according to the needs and the situation of their age. That's how the noble art sustains itself. A Javanese woman here is presented to show the form of the communication process that hopefully can run beautifully and harmless to anybody. The black eyes, dark and empty, symbolize all the mystery of life because each existence is always enveloped by empty time and space or the emptiness.
There are five periods in these works; Zaman Edan (Crazy Era), Feodalitikum, Konolialipstik, I Trash You Era and Theatherorrical that tries to track the retrospection of civilization through the trace of socio-political history since the colonization until the reformation.
